AF spot, multi, etc...

Can anyone explain these in simple terms please? I don't understand what having it on AF spot will do, and multi, etc...what's best for what kind of picture?

Well... spot means you usually have one spot to focus on, in my camera it's a little square, showing where you're focusing. I can then move this square around to the right part of the viewfinder, to focus on different things.

ok this link isn't your camera but does explain what you are asking about. let the picture download as far as the guy taking a picture of the girl.On the left behind the man there is a tag saying "open menu". When you run your mouse ove it a dropdown list appears. The fourth one down says "focus", click on that and you will get a video/ talk demo on different focus points and should answer your question.

Thank you very much, that's been very helpful So now I know spot is one spot, multi means you can choose and continuous means it tracks or keeps looking to focus? Am I right?!
