Turning the AF tracking off?

ok so i have found this to be a pain in the bum when i am composing a picture. I have found an area to focus on, say a lizards head, i press the shutter half way to "lock the settings and focus" then i recompose the shot, say puting the lizards dead in the far bottom corner of the frame. Once i do that my focus changes from the lizards head to anything it pointing at. Now i have been looking through the manuel i cant really find anything, i have been going through all my settings but am sure am missing something

How do i turn it off?

I know it can be very overwhelming. Just take one feature at a time and put it to use. When I bought my D90 I had no clue what it would do. Here's a big help site Bazza told us about: http://imaging.nikon.com/products/im...d200/index.htm

I took the liberty of dialing in your camera. As I learned the features of my D90 I discovered how very powerful they were and committed some of the most important one to memory. It all takes time. Don't stop asking questions.

Re: Turning the AF tracking off?

Haylee, on the front of your camera you have a small focus selector by the lens release button. It sounds like you have it set on 'C' continuous instead of 'S' single so that every time you try to recompose it changes to focus to where you are pointing the camera.

Just turn it to the 'S' position.
