Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR - Any opinions?

Hi

I've been itching to get a new camera for a while, I like my Finepix S5700, but it's too large to easily slip into my pocket or bag, I'd like a camera that I can take most places and not have it a problem.

This camera has struck my eye, http://www.cameras.co.uk/specs/fuji-finepix-f70exr.cfm and the reviews seem pretty good that I've read so far. I know it's no SLR, but my budget won't stretch, and nor will my pockets.

It has a lower aperture number which is good, and the reviews say good quality shots. I know I won't get excellet action shots and there's no super macro, but for portraits and good zoom, it seems to do well.

Just wondering if anyone has this camera or knows anything about it...or indeed any camera of similar price with better performance? I think Tesco are selling them for £129.

I'm hoping if I can convince my husband it's a good idea, to get it for Saturday and give it a spin at a concert.

Looking forward to some views!

Can you stretch to a panasonic tz7 or tz10? http://www.yophotographer.com/page.php?t=10975

I would look on pbase.com to see if the shots taken with cameras in your shortlist, are to your preference

Nikon 55-200mm VR

It looks a nice little camera, you can get some great little compacts. For the price I'd say it looks great value.

I have a Panasonic P&S that Azz suggested, but they are a bit more, so I think yours does look like a good choice in your budget.

Nikon do Coolpix, and Canon has a great range of little compacts too. I love the colour rendition in Fuji cameras though. Have a look for images taken with the camera on Pbase and Flickr, to give you some idea of it's capabilities too.

Re: Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR - Any opinions?

Thanks guys
My budget won't be massive and sadly I couldn't convince my husband that we can afford it yet Oh well, at least it gives me more time to do more research...the ones suggested seem really good on the reviews too, also some of the nikon coolpix series?
Wish I was rich, would make it so much easier!

Re: Fujifilm Finepix F70EXR - Any opinions?

Thanks Bob, but that's a bit big, I have a camera similar size and am really looking for a pocketable one now.

Azz, your TZ7 pictures are really good, how does it handle a moving object like a dog? I'm also looking at the TZ8, supposed to be good, similar?

Good news on my budget! I really want to get a camera asap, so I've asked my close family to not get me birthday/christmas presents this year and give me the money they would have spent...hopefully this will at least put a decent chunk, so my budget will be up to about £200....

I need a camera that fits in a pocket/small bag easily, 10X zoom minimum, good aperture so I can get that nice unfocused background when doing portraits, and especially good at af tracking (I think that's the one where I could get a clear shot of my dog running) and good macro...HELP!!!!

Thanks in advance
