Photography programme on Channel 5!

Hi Guys,

I know I've not been around at all lately, but just when I thought things were going well and I got my mojo back, things went down hill, and all in one foul swoop, thanks to a cat! (well, I'm not going to blame myself )

There I was, happily minding my own business changing my lens and being ultra careful not to get any dust in the camera, when there was the jangle of the bell on the cat that likes to torment the dog, next thing I knew Jack was charging past me at full speed, taking my legs from me, I hit the deck awkwardly, breaking my arm and my camera

Anyway to cut a long story short, my Nikon D40 is no more and I know have a Nikon D5000

Well, back to the title of this thread, and I apologize if it's already been posted, but I've seen an advert on TV, that from this Tuesday (14th Sept. '10) there's a programme on Channel five called 'How to take stunning pictures' I think it's series it's on at 7.30pm, I'll be recording it to see if I can pick up a few tips or ideas

Re: Photography programme on Channel 5!

That's great...shame it is Ch5 and not BBC 2 where it would have been better i am sure, less the adverts, about 22 minutes i'd guess but something to look forward to. Having just got back from a short Devon holiday i was amazed how many average folks actually have a DSLR albeit that most just have a single lens and not a bag of kit. Should be more photographic programs on.

Re: Photography programme on Channel 5!

Ouch - that sounds sore - hope it's not too painful for you and you're a quick 'mender'.

Shame about the camera but at least you were able to get another.

I'll have to try and remember to watch the program - agree with BC - it would be nice to see more photography on the telly.

Re: Photography programme on Channel 5!

OK watched it now - its only 20 mins long!
This first episode was all about portraits.
Its enjoyable but did not really have any content. They mention things in passing like making the most of the light, exposing for the brighest bits but don't actually tell you what that means or how to do it. If I didn't know how to do that, I probablly would be feeling quite fustrated. I think they could have done better with a few quick tips / tutorials.
I will watch the rest of the series though and record them for my son who will like them.
