Re: Big Game Hunter

I used to have a cat that went after the same type of big game (but her prey also included leaves)

Can't remember the last time I saw a red admiral - we don't seem to get them round here at all

Cats do seem to be fascinated by butterflies, Daisy also tries to get frogs, lizards and grasshoppers.

Re: Big Game Hunter

That one looks like a peacock actually we do get a few red admirals here, I saw one yesterday in fact - but mostly it's speckled wood and small tortoiseshells!

Re: Big Game Hunter

That's Murphy. He and Paddy tend to go for the big stuff although they never let an opportunity pass by. Chippy is the one that never takes on anything bigger than a month.

As for the butterfly - We get swarms of them because of the Buddleias - mainly the only three that I know the names for.

...you see, its that long since I've seen one that I can't even remember their names (pretty obvious too that this one is the peacock)

not sure I know what a speckled wood looks like though.

Re: Big Game Hunter

Yes, we get a few of the various whites here too - mostly Large/Cabbage white I have a photo of a Speckled Wood somewhere - rather plain looking, but very amusing to watch as they are so aggressive!
