Weimeraner - which angle?

Another question I'm afraid. Which angle is better? Full on profile or slight angle?

Re: Weimeraner - which angle?

I like the slight angle shot better as it gives more of a 3D look to the face, especially the snout.

Re: Weimeraner - which angle?

The first one gives a longer muzzle length than the second. The breed standard should say what is preferred, so I would suggest checking this up and see which photo depicts the closest match.

What I would do is get rid of the collar and background, then work on the rest of the picture as to neck length etc.

Just a quick edit which can be done better, I have slipped up on a bit of where the collar was but will hopefully give some idea

Re: Weimeraner - which angle?

I can't decide as I like them both the same - do agree the background needs to be cleaned up tho as per Bazza's example.

Re: Weimeraner - which angle?

Stunning dog, and a big fave breed of mine, would love to own one someday

I think I prefer the first shot, and once the background is tidied up a little, think it's a great image of a stunning breed.

Re: Weimeraner - which angle?

First shot for me too - I always prefer bang on profile shots for dog portraits.

I prefer the second one, but it depends upon what you are aiming for?

Re: Weimeraner - which angle?

Depends what you're wanting to depict I guess but in my opinion the side on shot (number one) works best

The second is too side on - not enough angle to be an angle if that makes sense.

Re: Weimeraner - which angle?

Depends what you are looking for, I would like to see a photo with the head turned even more toward the camera, so both eyes can be seen. This, to me, would be a more natural shot but as I said, it is what you want.

Re: Weimeraner - which angle?

Thanks guys,
I was limited to what the dog gave me as I couldn't move. I can see why both are better and worse in their own way. Thanks for the edit, Ive tried to emulate it, but my first attempt has been rubbish!
