Butterflies

These are a couple of butterfly pictures. They won't be the best close ups because of my camera aswell as me...but I'm mainly trying to learn about composition and what works. Please let me know which are best/worst and why!

Re: Butterflies

Some really nice captures especially the sixth shot, the composition is good, the colour, the exposure, you have a nice DoF too.

Re: Butterflies

BC

I know how hard it is to get a good photo of a flutterby. At one butterfly farm the humidity was so much that my lens kept steaming up, and one guy I spoke to said it took 20 minutes before his camera adjusted to the conditions. Apart from that the flutterbys never seem to stay still long enough when using a prime lens to get a good shot.

So taking everything into consideration you have done well to get these photos.

I think the only sure way is to go into a butterfly farm with a Centurian tank and blast away with stun granades so they don't move

Re: Butterflies

Thanks everyone, much nicer comments than I was expecting! I'm happy with a few of them.
I didn't find it steamed up at all, maybe it wasn't as humid?!

Re: Butterflies

Cor, some great images you have there...we have a tropical world in leeds, i might take a visit, the problem there is the very high humidity wheich is no good on a cold day?
