Cock O The North, Oliver's Mount - Short Documentary 5DMk2

Hello everyone

Here is a short film documentary I shot using the Canon 5DMk2. The weekend really gave me a chance to test the 5D using various lenses, filters, sound set-ups etc...

'Cock O The North' Motorcycle Road Race meeting at Oliver's Mount, Scarborough, England.

It features amongst others:

Ryan Farquhar
Keith Pringle
Dave Molyneux & Patrick Farrance

Nice work Richard, well shot!

Here's the link to the vid: http://www.weddingphotographyleeds.org/blog (link to actual blog post doesn't work btw). I had to click on HD as the default was SD.

Lovely quality! I like the bonnet cam too

Re: Cock O The North, Oliver's Mount - Short Documentary 5DMk2

Hi Guys, thanks for the kind words

I ended up shooting it all with the 28-105L F4 because changing lenses just became a faff and I was missing crucial shots (I had the 35,50,85L primes). However, I will defo be using the 24-70L F2.8 when we go back to shoot the Gold Cup because I didn't even need the extra focal length but could have really done with the extra stops. I used the ND fadar Mk2 which I have to say is horrible. Whilst it is very convenient not having to switch ND's, the fadar, as others have reported, defo puts a green cast over everything and plays havoc with the cameras exposure. I was trying to use the Camera's histogram to nail exposure but combined with the fadar there was no consistency with it at all, hence the inconsistant look. The fadar has gone and I am sticking with my B+W NDs, even if they do cost £100+ each : ( .....just don't drop them.

To top it all off I was really tested with the natural elements. Bright sunny day with millions of individual clouds and very windy!!!! NIGHTMARE! The second I exposed the shot, a cloud would zoom past and vica-versa....

I came home with a big list of does and don'ts for next time. One of them is:

1. Saturday night, consume less beer...
2. Remember to switch the guide mic on...

Cheers Jeff.
