Re: trying out a new studio today

Striking images and you have done well to get a good white background, but I think I would like to see more light reaching their face / eyes.

Re: trying out a new studio today

FB, I tend to agree with LM, just a touch more light on the face area on 1, 3 and 4, there is also some marks on the background of 4. Apart from that a very high key nice set with punchy colours.

Re: trying out a new studio today

I wasn't sure what to say about these as it's not my forte. The images looked quite pleasing and the poses looked quite good to me. I'd agree that maybe the face need a bit more light, and i'd guess the sensor on the camera needs a clean. Pics look a bit soft to me, but could be the lens or the resolution. Nevertheless, I still like the shots and at a reasonable size they could do your friend justice.

Re: trying out a new studio today

the sensor might need a clean, but it doesn't look to me as if you got the faces in focus.

I'm not best placed to talk as I realy struggle with focus unless I am up close doing a head shot, but I do feel that these could have been shaper. It is most noticeable in the ones where the face is under exposed. I bet if you had got more light to the face and eyes you would have found it easier to get them sharper.
Were you selecting your focus point and lining it up over the eyes?

Re: trying out a new studio today

thanks Little Me, I always try and pick out the eyes as my focus point, I'll just have to wait untill I get my film back to see if the focus is any better on that! lol or it might be that I'm just rubbish!

Re: trying out a new studio today

Hi mate, you aren't rubbish, I think the poses look quite good and she is certainly a lady that glamourises herself so she seems to work well as a model. The overall picture looks soft to me rather than a point of focus, just wondering if this is because your cam is 6MP's and the pics are already enlarged or the lens isn't as sharp as you would hope. It may be worth doing some tests to see if it is focussing right.

Re: trying out a new studio today

the reason I asked about focal points was that if you have them all selected you can't guarentee what the camera will choose to be in focus.

I do struggle with getting good clarity on full body shots, particulalry if there isn't enough light to the face.
According to the exif info on flickr the shutter speed was plenty quick enough and your aperture was closed right down so the potential was there for sharpness.
I think if it were me I would work on getting light to the face and see if that makes a difference.

Re: trying out a new studio today

Little me I think it was more to do with a combo of Lens and sensor as the shots I've took with my nifty fifty are much sharper, well the ones I managed to get in focus! lol
