Regeneration

Living in a nice area of East London... A lot of the local area is pretty run down.... However regeneration is taking place at a rapid pace.... Here's a few shots of a local authority council block that's in the process of being demolished... Out go the 1950's high rise buildings - one by one...

Some great pics there Chris, I esp like number 17 for some reason!

i like 4 and 6.

i really like the ones with the playground in.

i can only imagine how many kids that livd there must of used it.

i bet the swings could tell a story.

it has history and significance in todays society

It's an unusual feeling sometimes seeing something that's been there for so long disappear... Even if it's something you're glad to see the back of....

Its a really strange feeling. I live a few minutes away from where they filmed the Sony Bravia paint ad. Not long after it was filmed the building was demolished. Now the area seems so empty.

I wish they were doing the big 'blow up' thing on these tower blocks - but due to their proximity to my place and a major road - they are having to be taken apart piece by piece... That big one already looks spooky with the top left corner chunk taken out of it - I didn't grab a shot today as the weather was terrible... Maybe tomorrow...
