River Tay at Newburgh (Phil & Hannah)

Took my eldest (Hannah) for a walk along the River Tay tonight.

Not the lovely River Tay - but the start of the muddy Tay estuary by Newburgh.

Not been through all the pics yet but after some record breaking stone skimming - the light was nuts so we messed about stacking far to many ND grads on a wide angle lens.

Re: River Tay at Newburgh

We don't get light like that in cr*ppy Leicester! Really nice pic, posted a bit too small to appreciate for me at the high res I run my screen. Highlights well under control and visually impactive.

To me, the sky would look better not so distorted and a little less dark. The glimmers of blue make me feel that more natural look is better. If I cover the top 15-20% of the picture (the stretched cloud portion) under that looks a great scene with lovely light and very calm. Nice to see you are out and about again.

Re: River Tay at Newburgh

Cheers for the suggestions guys.

I'll post some 'natural' ones once I've been through them all.

This was me just having some pshop fun with one that didn't really work as it was.

Re: River Tay at Newburgh

I agree with Bazza

The post processing really suits the image, fab sky Phil! the light is wonderful. Very nice, and it's dramatic enough to work in Mono too, I would think ?

(Makes me want to wipe the dust off my ND's now, really have not used them enough)

Re: River Tay at Newburgh

Thanks Bazza, thanks Moonie.

This one was on it's way to becoming a B&W conversion but I just left it as it is.

I've a few similar ones that I'll no doubt give the B&W treatment to though.

Re: River Tay at Newburgh

What amazing light you captured. Gorgeous work!
I see what BC means about the top 5 % of the picture but if you crop that bit then it feels a little cramped - as if you are in a room with a very low ceiling.
