Candle in the dark

I was messing about with the camera settings and finding out about the F. numbers and shutter speed and was quite pleased with the result, well for a first attempt anyway The effects of the flame were made by gently blowing on or near the flame

please be gentle

Re: Candle in the dark

Some interesting images there - I particular like the shape of the flame in number 2.
Its great to see you experimenting and trying things out. Thats how we learn and improve. I really must do more of that.

Re: Candle in the dark

As little me says - great to see you experimenting.

Whilst they might seem like simple subjects, candles are very difficult things to photograph.

Exposure wise you need to deal with extreme brightness and dark shadow. In darkness focus will be a challenge as your wide aperture (required for light) will result in narrow depth of focus which means it's tricky to get a sharp image of a moving flame.
