Re: springer x.... the poser...

Lovely dog! I do like the second, the focus on the eyes would make the shot even better - but lovely lighting and composition I also rather like the yellow cast.

Re: springer x.... the poser...

Hi Suze.

Millie is adoreable

As for the pictures, one way to make your whites nice and...well...white...would be to make sure your white balance and exposure settings in the camera are set to suit the environment you're in, but I suppose even then it's not always 100% accurate.

One very quick way of editing an image with a yellowish hue, is to restore some of the bluish tones that are missing.

I used one of your images of Millie to demonstrate how to do this in only one move. You do need photoshop though

Open up your image, then go to:

Image>Adjustments>Photo Filter

You will see a selection of different colours and filters, each having it's own affect on the image.

For the image above, I simply chose the BLUE filter, and slid the little slider along to 30%, which restores some of the blue tones that were missing from the original. There are other ways of doing it too, but with this technique only involving one action, I thought it would be a good place to start.

This really only fixes the problem with your whites though, and as you can see between all of your images here, poor Millie's coat is a different colour in all of them.

In the image I used as an example, her coat is slightly brown, but I assume in reality her coat is black, somewhere in between images 1 and 2.

To get it back to a darker colour, again in photoshop I did the following:

Image>Adjustments>Replace Colour

A new window appears, containing various eyedropper tools, a slider, a black window and some colour controls.

Select the little eyedropper tool with the "+" next to it, and then hold down the left mouse button and drag the eye dropper over the parts of your image you wish to change. In the small black window, you should start to see the colours you have selected forming the rough shape of your original image, only in black and white. The white parts are the parts that you have selected to be changed.
Once you are happy with your selection, go to the bottom half of the new window ( where it says replacement ) and either click on the coloured square and select your desired new colour from there, or use the "hue" and "Saturation" sliders to fine tune the new colour or tone that you want.

This takes a bit of practice, and you might not always get it right first time.
There are other ways of doing it too, but this way is pretty straight forward without the need for layers and masks etc.

Here is a very quick edit using the method above to change Millie's coat from brown to black.

Obviously it's not perfect, and as it's a JPG file, it deteriorates in quality every time you play around with it, but hopefully you get the general idea. If you have to do any editing with your images, I recommend editing them as TIFF files, and then saving them for upload as JPGs.

I know you don't have photoshop, but I hope this helps none the less
