Restored old sepia picture

I came across an old picture (1981) of my parents which was taken just before my father died of cancer followed 6 months later by my mother.

So obviously being one of the last ever pictures of them, getting the picture to a better condition was very personal to me. I didn't want to risk having it professionally restored just incase something happened so I had a go myself.

The first thing was the picture I took came out absolutely full of dust like spots. Something that had to be sorted before anything else, luckily my Microsoft Image Suite has a program in it which did a remakable job. Ididn't want to use RAW editing as I am not yet that familiar with it.

Next problem was restoring the colour and what a job that was, I almost gave up hope after over an hours work but managed to pull out a remarkable amount. The rest was just sharpening etc, the total time spent on just this one photo was well over 2 hours, so what do you think? No cropping done it was how I took the picture

Re: Restored old sepia picture

Thanks Azz very much, as I said it is a very personal photo and has great sentimental value.
It just goes to show what the ordinary "Joe Bloggs" can do when it matters
