Re: Garden bird hide :D

Not as clever as I thought... the tarpaulin ripped quite badly in some places in the wind, and it's just not working bleh. Back to the drawing board! And the tarp cost €20 as well... gah!

Not sure what to do from here, a lot of the methods we've thought up are horrendously expensive here!

Re: Garden bird hide :D

Aww that's shame, could you perhaps borrow a tent off someone?

Re: Garden bird hide :D

what about something the wind will go through rather than whip up - like a camoflague net?

Re: Garden bird hide :D

That's a thought... I don't know where I'd get one over here though... but it's an idea definitely! Thanks LM!

I can't borrow a tent guys, it's a good idea, but for the location of the feeders/hide etc, I really need to be standing, or at least sat on a chair, but in most tents, it's too low to do that! Netting sounds a good idea!

Re: Garden bird hide :D

I got the boys a camoflague net (to make dens with) on E Bay.

If its really really windy you could well have similar problems with a tent.
We have a mammout tent usually weighted with tonnes of stuff (I don't travel light!!!) so we have never had a problem, but we have seen small tents around us trashed by the wind - and this is during summer months.

Re: Garden bird hide :D

Camo netting is a great idea, it's not too bad off Ebay, I got some for Luke, he draped it over his bunk bed, and in the summer made dens outside with it.

You could always wrap yourself in it, smear some mud across your face, and then put twigs in your hair

Re: Garden bird hide :D

Near enough! I have found a good solution... I happen to have some hideous lime green, grass patterned bedsheets... you can guess where this is going! Next time I'm wrapped in my bedsheets, frightening then neighbours... I'll get Karl to take a shot for you all to giggle at! ;D
