Re: Kolossi Castle - Night Time

I think you will be fine Moonie! I got a D300 only a few months after getting the D40!

I agree with JR - it really isn't a point n shoot camera BUT that is a good thing as it pushes you to really get into the nitty gritty, and the results? Well just look at how great JR's last few shots have been (and he's only just beginning to get into it!).

Re: Kolossi Castle - Night Time

Jack- I didn't take your comment personally but I am honest, I still have loads of stuff to learn, and I may be jumping the gun, getting this camera already, but I love a challenge

Azz- I am a little daunted, but I have several of you like Jack, BC, Grant and you of course to bug the hell out of, when I can't work out how to switch it on xxx

Lol Moonie, honestly you'll be fine, in fact rather than being daunted you will fall in love with it as soon as you get it out! Everything just makes 'sense', from button placements to the way they function to how it feels in the hand; the ergonomics.

So when you getting it?

Well, I move the beginning of February, so hopefully I should be the proud owner of one by the end of February The only thing I have noticed with the D300, when I have been bugging the poor sales people in Jessops, is the weight. But, I will get used to it, it is almost double the weight of my Oly! may need to take up body building

Re: Kolossi Castle - Night Time

it is comparatively heavy.... but it is well balanced and after a while you forget you have it in the hand. It would be wise to consider the tripod you perch it on too.

Re: Kolossi Castle - Night Time

I was concerned about weight too - but I honestly didn't notice the difference when I got it

Can't wait to see your shots with it now!

Re: Kolossi Castle - Night Time

It's an interesting shot. I agree with Azz on the tree, kind of makes the shot right side heavy. I know sometimes you can't always stand in the ideal place, so I'll let you off

The building looks a bit over exposed though, might want to bring it down a bit?

I guess it's closed for the winter now? I love walking round those type of buildings.
