That explains it.

When you said you had tried out your fastest setting I couldn't figure it out.

I thought you were talking about 1/8000th of a sec which I simply can't use without getting anything other than a black picture as it's just to fast - even with the biggest aperture and highest ISO 1600 whilst pointing at a spotlight.

Sorry should have said... 'in shutter priority mode' I turned the dial all the way, on the camera it said 4ooo Lo+

'Lo' just meant that (in those lighting conditions) at that shutter speed - your camera couldn't set an aperture value wide enough to let enough light in to correctly (as far as it's concerned) expose the shot.
