A friend is looking for a P&S

Probably mid price range (£100-150).

She does not mind what make it is, but it has to be fairly easy to use. She would like as big a display as possible (eye sight issues).

She has one at the moment, that takes a second or two to take the shot once you have pressed the shutter.

Any suggestions would be great.

Re: A friend is looking for a P&S

P&S? I assume you mean a compact P&S?

Personally compact P&S are bracketed into price/quality ranges - I'd ask what she wants to do with her images; this will make a difference to what I'd recommend as the difference in spending between + or - £50 can be quite significant in terms of quality.

I'd look over the +£150 range if she is after capturing anything of quality.

I've just brought a Canon PowerShot SX200. (12.1 MP, 12x Optical Zoom) 3.0" LCD - if purchased by Sept you can claim £40 back. Amazon are currently selling it at 31% off the RRP. £208 with the £40 included.

I have just brought one of my Daughters the Panasonic Lumix TZ6 Digital Camera (10.1MP, 12x Optical Zoom) 2.7" LCD. Another belting camera IMO. £190

Re: A friend is looking for a P&S

Good luck - I shall watch with interest, as I'm thinking of getting something good as a 'travel' camera - just for trips out when I don't have space/energy for the big fella. Also, I know mum is still looking for a good replacement cam - having said that, it'll be a while.

Re: A friend is looking for a P&S

Big plug for a Panasonic P&S from me too, we have three of them floating around now, and the smallest one the kids use all the time, big screen at the back, has lots of scene modes, so is very easy, and they have all delivered really good pics, that is the camera, not the muppet behind it

We have two "SlR" type ones and a very compact, tiny DMC FX12. All a couple of years old now, and when we get another P&S for the family, would buy another Panasonic
