Nice job of masking Sam. I would have lightened the background about 20%.

Thanks for your opinion Bob Personally though, I prefer to keep the background dark as it adds to the richness of the image and helps for more pop.

Carole, duplicate the background x 3. On the second layer mask using multiplay and brush back any details by around 50% and the skin by 100%. On the top layer, mask again and this time gaussian blur by around 18% and mask using soft ligh. Brush back in the parts you want to keep sharp xx
