Re: YOP Questions for all

What is your favourite 'type' of photography ?
Nature/Animal/Wildlife

Where would you most like to go to take photographs ?
Antartica - I would like the challenge

If you could have a portrait session - Who would you most like to photograph ?
I don't really do portraits, so whichever actor took my fancy at the time

If you could improve 1 thing about your photography skills - what would it be ?
Underwater lighting (possibly just lighing in general - I tend to prefer natural light and don't use my Flash very often at all).

Apart from your camera and lens/es - what single item of your kit would you pick next ?
Manfrotto tripod

How many photographs do you take in an average week ?
It really depends and varies quite a lot. I can go a week without taking a single shot if I am busy at work and other weeks I will take several.

If you went out for the day taking photographs and using one was possible - what % (roughly) of your shots would you use a tripod for ?
Normally if I take a tripod then I have a particular focus in mind eg fungi, waterfalls etc. I might take a few shots handheld but if I had the tripod I would normally try and use it so probably around 90% However I don't often take the tripod out with me.

Do you feel comfortable taking pictures out in public or do you like privacy ?
I am happy to do either.

If you could have any camera for free what would it be ?
I'll have to go with KK here and say the Hassleblad (well at that price I could sell it and buy myself a lovely 1DS Mark III and have a ton of money to spend on new glass )

Do you think photographic equipment is overpriced ?
Some yes, although it also depends on where you purchase your equipment from.

When did you last have a roll of film developed ?
< 2000 which is when I went digital.

Do you have/use lens filters ?
Yes, mostly for protection although I am contemplating investing in a ND an IR filter.

Does 'photoshop' prevent people from improving their camera skills ?
IMO yes - I feel that some people tend to have an over reliance on post processing to iron out any imperfections in their photo's rather than try and improve their photography.

How many of your digital images do you actually print / get printed ?
Very few.

Do you have a favourite photo that you've taken - if so what is it and why ? (post it if you like)
I have several photo's I like, some for their technicality, others for the content (often these latter ones are pictures of my dogs and/or my OH).

This one I took quite a while ago and still rather like it:
