Your inspiration.

Which photographer has made an impact on your work and why?

I would say the likes of Carrie Sandoval and Kelley Ryden are huge inspirations to me. I would give so much to produce work of their calibre and imagination.

Carrie in particular produces photographs with such purity and amazing technical ability, that im blown away every time i look at her work. Each time Im reminded how my abilities as a photographer fall so very short in the skilled works of Carrie, only making me want to strive for it much more!

Kelley's work however is much more candid than Carries and more suited to my style of shooting. She captures the very essence of childhood in all of her photographs. Her fun style varies but her signature always remains in each of her images.

Re: Your inspiration.

I think Annie Leibovitz was definitely an inspiration for my live band work, although to be honest, anyone that gets to tour for a year with the Rolling Stones should be able to turn up a few good shots

Ansel Adams certainly was an early inspiration for landscape work. Yosemite park(?) must have been a great place to hang out though

To be honest though, just seeing what other people around me are doing daily (like on here, and my own website) provides much inspiration.

Re: Your inspiration.

...me too, some of the greats did some fantastic pictures but I get loads of inspiration and have admiration for all the unknowns that put pictures on the various forums and websites. I love the war photographers though, too many to mention who were in vietnam, the korean war, world war 2, documenting the misery of both soldiers and civilians. I also love the photojournalists and travel photographers, love to look at scenes where you look at all the individual faces, the detail...life that is different to taht most of us see. Not brought to us by one great photographer, but lots of small time names all getting just a few special images.

While I appreciate many of the top togs work, in all honesty I get inspired by lots of photographers big or small, even mere mortals, like us lot.

Re: Your inspiration.

I'm inspired by me. I've been working at this craft for 40 years and have gotten to a point where I am starting to display work on my walls as well as the homes of many others. As a wedding photographer dozens of people share their wedding with many through my work in portraiture. I've photographed entire church congregations during their homecomings.

I love the landscapes of Ansel Adams and the portraiture of Joe McNally, one of Scott Kelby's professional photographers/instructors.

Re: Your inspiration.

At the risk of sounding awkward - I've not really been inspired by any photographers.

What inspires me are the things I try to photograph - it's my interest in the subjects rather than the photography itself I guess.

Don't get me wrong there's loads of photographers I have admiration for (Ansel Adams already mentioned) & Colin Prior but again it's more the content that makes me want to get out with the camera.

Phil, you nailed exactly what I was trying to say. Every photographer sees things uniquely and uses their unique skills to capture images. I could never duplicate any of the accepted masters so I use my own prospective to do my best.

Re: Your inspiration.

I can be inspired by anyone that produces great images, in fact it is more often the images than the photographer that inspire me, although some photographers styles impress me. I confess to the likes of Bailey, Duffy, Donovan etc., be something of an influence in my early photography as was Bresson. Nowadays I am constantly in awe of some of the very talented portrait and wedding photographers, Jerry Ghionis to name on.

My motivation, however, is born out of a mixture of successes, failures and, to a degree, frustration, (especially with PP processes).

I do like challenges and I am my own most severe critic.

I adore their work and stalk their blogs / flickr for inspiration - and several others similar to them.
I actually find flickr a great place for inspiration.
