...............Or keep it as a back up along with my D50?

Im not sure what to do with my D200 Should i sell it while there is still some intrest in this camera and use the cash to put towards a new lens? Or am i better off keeping hold of it and use i as a back up camera? HELP!

Re: Should i sell my body?

Not sure really amateurs ever need backup's KK but your situation is a little different. Looking at the secondhand forums recently I think it's value is around £350-£375 if it's mint. Depends if that money is worthwhile to you but in honesty I think you will find the D200 disappointing against the D700 and probably be reluctant to use it.

*Edited this after next post made, but yes, if you have a specific reason like weddings you almost certainly need a professional 2nd body, but if I am just wondering if you would ever use it. The D50 is still popular as it has the on-board motor, probably worth around £100-£140?

...actually, you may even find the D200 disappointing against the D40. Pictures from a friends D40 are as good as anything I have seen from a D200 although it's a more professional camera. The engine in the D40 is later and more tweaked and less noisy.

Re: Should i sell my body?

If it helps your decision any... i have kept oth my 400D bodies... you never know, plus at the moment i have a sigma 10-20mm on one 400D, the 70-200mm on the 5D and the 24-70mm on the other 400D

Changing lenses in the cold is a nightmare as they can get condensation so i keep them set up for what i need... apart from today where is was using the 24-70 on the 5D

Re: Should i sell my body?

Well you see i have my D50 as well, which works great with the right lens as a backup, but i do love my D200. I just hate having all these cameras sat doing nothing. That said, i am now thinking the the D200 is more robust than the D50 and im more comfortable using it...

..ok just talked myself out of selling it! LOL...

Thanks all
(ps - Finney, i have a full tub of Cola Cubes in he kitchen which i got from Macro for John )

Re: Should i sell my body?

Yes I would sell it - I found that when I got my D300 I never used the D40 once. I think your D50 would work well as a back-up... untill you get a D3 and then use the D700 as your back up
