Online gallery or Proofs?

Can I ask those of you that have clients how do you show your client the finished product, before they order their prints?

Do you have a set of proofs for them to view, or do you use an online private gallery?

Thanks x

Re: Online gallery or Proofs?

So how many times do you see the client, as you have to deliver the proofs, and I am guessing, have to visit again, to find out what they wish to order and print?

Do you take all the travelling etc, into your prices?

Also,do people ever ask you do you have a website, gallery etc ?

Sorry for the questions

Re: Online gallery or Proofs?

Suzi, i have a password protected gallery for each client. Each picture has its file number on so its very easy for them to order. If the client requires physical proofs,i get them printed professionally into a a proof book for them. This hasnt taken off brilliantly as most people prefer the method of logging online as anyone they like can access and order any pictures they like from wherever they are in the country or world All the orders come direct to me for quality control then are sent via my packaging onto the customer. P&P is charged for accordingly. If you want to look at my pricing, you can access the PDF through my site

Online galleries are the most popular, easiest and cost protuctive way to display images.

What KK said

I charge a flat rate for p&p and my clients can buy through my website and add items to a wish list so they can buy later.

Re: Online gallery or Proofs?

Thanks guys, I know I have only done a couple of shoots, for free, and I took my laptop with me, and showed them the pics that way, plus gave them a disc to keep. But, it got me thinking how do you all do it. The two free prints I did, I had sent to me first to check, so that is the best way to do it? You always quality control your prints first?

But, I was thinking that to keep visiting the clients isn't very economical, plus as you both say if you have a private gallery, for that client, they can give their password to any family overseas etc, and then they can order.

It was discussed at college, and we were talking about presentation etc, portfolios, having an online presence is very important now. I will start another topic about that later.

I am not intending to start setting up shop or anything, just planning ahead plus, I want to start off in the best possible, professional way. Start as I mean to go on

I always have orders sent to me first, not matter what. I think presentation and quility of the upmost importance and is a hge chunk of your bussiness. For me i feel its very assuming and "dangerous" to send out a client an image that you have not finalised. It could cost you a client and money in the long run. Just one "bad" print to the wrong person can potentaily loose you frther business

Exactly the reason why i have online proofing.

In this day and age, yes its hugely important. First impressions always count and your website is your "face" (more later if your posting a seperate thread)

I meant to say earlier, I like how your gallery is set up, I thought the wish list is a great idea
