Re: Tripod question

Just get one that moves comfortably with you because you will use it flat and aimed but you will more often use it curved into your body and tilted..as an aid for greater reach.

Was going to get one online but think I might be better just seeing what they have to try out in a shop first. Before I order one...

I'm a bit of a fan of B&W and these are fine sounding boxes.

Just wish I could afford the Nautilus speakers

Only about £50,000.00

Re: Tripod question

One of the most versatile heads you can get is the Manfrotto 804RC2. It moves in any direction and each one is scaled. I highly recommend it you will have a hard job finding better. it locks solid in any position.

Quick video just made of my tripod head in action with 5 lb of weight on it, it will take and hold a far greater weight than that. A bonus is it has a quick release plate- spirit bubble level as well as scales for every direction. Those scales are fantastic for pano shots to get an equal amount of overlap from picture to picture. Selling on Amazon for just under £49. Fitted on top of a Manfrotto 055XPROB tripod in video. Very smooth for video tracking as well.

Showing the the scales (just)

Re: Tripod question

Thanks for posting the vid, Bazza. That actually does look great cos I'm not very good at using panaramic...too much stitching as I can't keep it level enough, which I need for a wee/big project. Plus need to film RC stuff and get pics for my brother (ok, film for him means get pics for me lol) plus night time stuff..this is just the scrapbook projects to come from the top of my head.

I'll need to look into this and prices etc.

There goes the idea of learning to use the camera first but the whole point was to get better photos/scrapbook pages.

Re: Tripod question

I need a new tripod too - I have a very old one on its last legs (pardon the pun! ) and I have a couple of very flimsy and useless ones... but then, I don't do much tripod work at all.

Re: Tripod question

Manfrotto 055XPROP tripod why I like it

By bazza104 at 2012-03-08

Extended to 74 inches approx and still rock solid

By bazza104 at 2012-03-08

Shortest locked upright including head 28 inches. Could go a bit lower by unlocking via silver buttons at the top of the legs

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Ground level without dismantling, just push the button on the bottom of the center column to swing is sideways. If I had the center column in a different position it would almost hit the ground

As you can see this head/tripod combo is about as flexable as one can get, and I have tried a few, and it stays solid however set up
