The Pass

When I was up in the lakes a few weeks back...

The scene itself looks great BC, but what's that black blob on the upper right hand side? It kinda spoils the image for me :-/

Probably a little too much darkening of the cloud...BlackCloud!

I've just checked back with the original, well the image that I rescaled to 1024 before upload. Once again Photobucket has increased the contrast, darkened the image and lost the subtlety. On the original, although a tad dark, you can see tones in that 'blob' as you describe it, and the subtle line of the hill to the right. Even more prominat on the real original. Will have a look I think at linking from Flickr.

I would use Flickr, it is much better for keeping your pics true to what you uploaded, PB seems to do weird stuff. I find Flickr much more user friendly too

Can I just say - maybe it's the wine - but I don't think so - seriously, this could be Ansel Adams for me - like that photo of JRs that I said to me was totally Kevin Carter - this is totally Ansel Adams.

I don't forget photos I say this sort of thing about - this is an unforgettable photo - and for me it's fabulous. I LOVE it.

Thanks you two! Appreciated, the original does look a bit better and i can see how the right hand sky does seem to be a blob that doesn't look quite so contrasty on the original. Processing is heavy on this but I thought it suited the moment. Ah, didn't expect to wake up to some appreciation after the initial comments last night...

Now sober - still love it!

I love the contrast with the darkness at the edges and the lightness at the pass.
