Re: Lens Cap - do you walk around with it on or off?

I leave mine off, to protect the lens I keep a clear filter attached at all times, it's cheaper to replace a filter than a lens.

Never mind walking around with it on - I take half my pictures with it on!

Keep meaning to get a UV filter and leave it on all the time.

Phil, i've got five lenses and they're all fitted with UV filters, a friend of mine a few years ago had a tiny scratch on his lens, the cost of polishing it out was horrendous.

Ditto. I use uv filters & hoods on all my lenses too, so I dont feel the need to have the lens cap on for protection when the camera is out the bag.

Re: Lens Cap - do you walk around with it on or off?

Mine goes back on after every shot. I have regretted this sometimes when I want a quick shot and realise the cap is on. I know it only takes a second to remove it but if I'm not thinking and aim to shoot then find the cap is still on, sometimes the moment is lost.

Yes - I should have mentioned that all my lenses have UV filters on as well as hoods, therefore it really isn't necessary to keep the cap on when I am out shooting.
