Re: A candid from Bantry

I like it a lot I like the pose you have captured, have to agree with Steve the grit/noise works well and the light strip removed from bottom will keep eyes from wondering excellent shot Laura

Re: A candid from Bantry

love it Zounds! this might sound strange but to make you feel more comfortable, taking street portraits, select a smaller focal length and get closer to your subject! This takes away the feeling of being slightly stalkerish stood off with your long lens taking your shots. Like I said it sounds a little strange but it worked for my nerves! If they sort of know what you’re up to most people don’t seem to mind too much! Whereas with a longer lens you always have that feeling of “oh no what if they catch me doing this!!!!”

Re: A candid from Bantry

Well for your first attempt you have done very well I think. I am a pretty social person and have shot a number of events (not a huge number) and have taken a lot of candid pics of people but none just out of the blue and none that show such a story that this guy could tell. Makes me want to sit and listen to him.

Re: A candid from Bantry

I saw him watching me photographing the birds, and could see he thought I was a bit odd or similar... I was trying to read what he was thinking, and I don't think I could. It was a rather surreal moment, he was definitely aware of me, and definitely watching me, but I don't know why, or what's so odd about photographing birds! I think I just wanted to try and capture the slight feeling of unease I got from him. Not sure if I did though.

Re: A candid from Bantry

I kind of wonder too - but can't help but feel he was a little sinister looking - could be he was squinting in the sunlight I guess!

The noise was totally intentional I like it noisy!
