Pallid Harrier

Not the best photography, it was very dark as it was about 4.45 when it flew over us - but I managed one reasonable photo - and I'm pleased enough!

Pallid Harrier:

We also saw 5-7 hen harriers, including a beautiful 2nd winter male, and then at the last minute an albino hen harrier flew in <3 which was magical - it was like watching a band of wild horses and suddenly seeing a unicorn There were two Pallid as well, which is fascinating!

Re: Pallid Harrier

Seems to be a few of them at the moment, one a few miles down the road from me was well photographed and is a stunning bird to see. I dont twitch these days, our big visitor at the moment is a greater yellowlegs which is a first for the county so it will be drippiing with photo / birders.

An albino HH must be a sight to see, hope the pallid stays so you can get more photos.

regards brian.

Re: Pallid Harrier

Thanks all

Mossy - there's been a few Pallids here too - this isn't the first we've seen, but the first we've photographed I don't do twitches either, but a mate phoned yesterday wanting to make a carful to go and see these birds, and they're not that far anyway, so we headed out since it was nice light as well would love to try again for the albino HH
