The Laura Daily Photo Alphabet Challenge

This challenge was done to help Laura, she is having a bad photo time at the moment, she's lost her Mojo
We all know she produces lovely pics, but she is feeling a bit blah! about it all at the moment, so she is going to do a daily photo, that she will share on here. Anybody can participate, or post comments to offer their encouragement to her

You can start it at any time, but obviously your first pic must be A, and then post a pic by midnight where you live the next day for B and so forth

Good luck Laura XXXXX

PS. She does know about this I am her cheerleading squad

Re: The Laura Daily Photo Alphabet Challenge

Yes, I need a bit of a kick alright! Sooo... today, with limited time, I went hunting for something with A that wasn't an apple! Meet my deceased 'Arachnid' D: Poor little guy. This one has been living in my shed for many months, keeping the flies down, and making it more bearable for my ratties. There are others there now of course, but this one was like an old friend, and now she's gone Loved the colours and the melancholy feel to this though - all suggestions appreciated! Also, please view full size to see the detail on the legs etc. Shot with Nikon D300s and Nikkor 105mm VR Macro

Bloomin' eck laura i liked you until this! I absolutely hate spiders...and it didn't help being confronted on the stairs by a massive one on the stairs after a few pints down the pub last night!!! Not easy chasing after it to kill it after a few stellas! Wouldn't go to bed if it wasn't dead!

So, your first picture only scores a B with me... 'B'loomin 'orrible!!!

Re: The Laura Daily Photo Alphabet Challenge

A is for Autumn, is my first shot, (I know it's a little vague, it was this or an apple)

To make me think more about what I am going to shoot, all the images will be with my 50mm.

D300,50mm, post processed by using my pop and vignette action, and my web action. So, 2 clicks basically.

Hoping others will join too, doesn't have to be today, whenever you can. xxxx

Re: The Laura Daily Photo Alphabet Challenge

You make it sound like I am talking in tongues

Actions, are basically steps and layers in photoshop that are recorded once, and then you can use the same "actions" over and over again, with one click of a mouse, they don't destroy the image, and each layer can be tweaked.

For example- I wanted to boost the colour and apply a vignette, I had already created a colour pop action with a vignette,as I sometimes like to ramp up the colour, so I literally clicked the action, done

Now my web/blog ready action, was created as I wanted a branded frame for blogging and posting ,and web resizing action, saw them for about $30, and thought no
Watched a tutorial on You tube and recorded my own. This action resizes each image to the same dimensions at a low resolution that is suitable for the web, adds a frame , adds a watermark and sharpens for the web, it is all done in one click.

Actions can cut your editing down to a few clicks, you can buy them, I recommend MCP and Kubota Tools, not cheap, but very good. You can download them free from the internet, just be careful where you get them from, so you don't download nasties, Coffeeshop Actions are free, and very good, and safe. Or you can make your own, which is what I do, as they are then exactly how you want them, instead of using someone elses idea of how something should look.

Most of us have certain things we like to do in post processing, that we do on most images, resizing, tweaking , etc, you can just make an action for it all, and it's done.

If you want, I can do a tutorial on how to create your own actions, in photoshop at some point.
