People pic, stupid PP question, help wanted!

Perhaps the most stupid question ever asked on Yo (or anywhere else come to that!) but can someone tell me how I processed this?

I was halfway through a PP experiment on Friday when a power cut hit and can’t recall what I did to #2. I know it was something incredibly simple, not sure I’d even got to the stage of duplicating the layer.

#1 – The Original

#2 – How did I get here? I want to use a toned-down version of the recipe to paint through and do other things with.

Thanks in advance for your help
Alison

Re: People pic, stupid PP question, help wanted!

It looks to me to be some gaussian blur and possibly some diffuse glow.

Many thanks for your advice Stanokella and Zounds – spot on! I was really beginning to tear my hair out trying to recall what I’d done. I just remembered that it was something very simple and was getting my knickers in a knot with high pass filters, multiple layer masks and all sorts of complicated stuff. Thank goodness I sought help here before things got really out of hand!

Above is my report Azz, hope that illustrations count Now that Stanokella and Zounds have helped me get back to the starting point I can tweak and get on with trying to make a decent image!

The original was just a crappy snapshot destined for the bin but I thought I’d experiment and see if it could be rescued. Off now to do a better job of converting to B + W (calculations will work best at a guess – think that’s what I did first time around), tone down the blur and paint through so the lady’s face doesn’t appear to be floating in space………
