Excellent work DJ and thanks for taking the time to explain and demonstrate. I love the discipline behind this type of photography, landscapes, which many people just have no notion or appreciation of. You really have some top notch kit to match too.

Re: (request for DJ) LEE hard graduated neautral density (0.6) filter

Have also had the purchase of some ND filters in mind but the cost makes you stop and think hard what it is you really need. Now I had decided on the soft and thought 3 would serve my purpose bearing in mind you can use all three together if required.

Now, with living in Lincolnshire I am thinking perhaps I need both and that is double the cost, still if I am to have them then I guess I need the correct selection or no point in having any.

Thanks for your help clearing some of the cobwebs away.

Re: (request for DJ) LEE hard graduated neautral density (0.6) filter

Can I just try and clarify this in my head - as a beginner with absolutely no technical expertise / understanding!
Does the filter darken the sky, but leave the landscape so that you can leave the shutter open longer without the sky getting too much light and becoming too bright in your final picture?

Re: (request for DJ) LEE hard graduated neautral density (0.6) filter

Basically that's it. Assuming the sky is the brightest part and therefore requires less exposure than the ground, the filter 'holds back' the sky and in simple terms evens up the exposure for the whole picture.

Re: (request for DJ) LEE hard graduated neautral density (0.6) filter

Had a play with someone else's cokin filters today - they're really good - I'm definitely thinking about a set now! Also had a play with a Sigma 10-20mm... and WANT.

Zoundz, do you like it better than Tokina's 11-16 f/2.8? I had written Sigma's lens off for its reported lack of sharpness vs. the Tokina. I think either would be a great zoom for really wide dreamy photos like DJ's.

Haven't tried the Tokina - but the Sigma was very sharp when I tried it!
