Re: More rubbish landscapes from me! :D

sorry... I don't mean to be negative, I honestly do try to find things to photograph in our area, but there's really very little I can do here (as in the house and grounds) it's pretty enough - but very barren and bland looking I suppose... and we can't get different angles on anything because we can't move around much if that makes sense? like we have a hill inthe field behind with a standing stone, and the hill is covered in gorse. We only have the view we see from our garden, mainly because we can't go in the field, to get closer, we can't go around the hill because of the field and the road. We are pretty limited.

Sorry if it seems like I'm making excuses/being negative, I'm not, honestly, I just think perhaps until we have transport landscape photography should be something I avoid.

Re: More rubbish landscapes from me! :D

It is true pictures are rarely on the doorstep and yes, mobility of the body and also transport are ways to achieve more photography. Even travelling in a car doesn't mean you will see what you want and as I said earlier, I may walk 10 or 15 miles on the footpaths and still not see anything that fits all the requirements to be a worthy photograph. This is not a criticsm at all, but I guess people have to find what suits them. It is evident here that some people are bound by having to find pictures in their studio, home or within a small radius, the park or gardens or maybe even the local city. My limitation is mainly time and really not having a massive scope to go somewhere too far when trying to balance my other obligations. Today I can't go walking so I am a little frustrated.

Whatever, undoubedly a car and mobility wouldbe helpful so hopefully something will come up that allows you to achieve what you want.

Re: More rubbish landscapes from me! :D

Thanks BC - yes, it's a real problem for me - it was never so bad in Wales, as we could get everywhere by public transport - but there's none of that here which is a shame. Yesterday cost us £10 in taxi fare - *after* we'd walked to the place (nearly 7 km) and also had to get into town as well (thank goodness for the landlady!) Alltogether, worryingly - if we'd not had our landlady, and been happy to walk one way, it would have cost €58... and that's for... ahem... 10 miles.

See what we're up against?!

Anyway - less of the whining - I'm about to post yet another landscape... I just hope it's a bit better!

Re: More rubbish landscapes from me! :D

When you go on these photographic journeys you tend to include too much to the point where they become snapshots. Take the B&W photo for example. I'd get much closer to that church and compose it as the main subject. Then there's the grave marker that could be an entirely different & interesting photo. Look for the details all around you and make them photographs instead of snapshots.

Re: More rubbish landscapes from me! :D

Zounds no problems

Just say tell the police the Taliban have set up camp on the hilltop, then sit back and wait for the action. Bound to get some fantastic shots of helicopters-army-police etc etc

You just have to be creative and think outside the box.

If the first suggestion is a bit over the top, just put it about that gold has been found nearby, that will surely get some action

Third idea is to ring the local press and say you spotted a rare bird, then you can take photos of twitchers.
