Can I abdicate from the USA?

I'm just a tad ticked as I went back online to one of my old photo forums & posted a scenic of a river photo. The response was that they thought the horizon looked about 2 degrees off level. That was it, no positive comments just negative. IF it wasn't level it's a teeny tiny adjustment not worthy of negative criticism. I guess I just reminded myself why I left there to begin with. Some, & I emphasize, some, Americans can be real snobs. End of rant.

P.S. I mispelled from in the post title. I apologize because I can't edit it.

Re: Can I abdicate from the USA?

I wouldn't worry about it too much Bob - some people take things far too seriously.

They should get a C&C category for people who want hard C&C on their photos! Not everyone wants that, many of us just like to share - but don't mind a friendly pointer here or there

Re: Can I abdicate from the USA?

I understand what you're saying Azz but what did they accomplish by being so picky?

Re: Can I abdicate from the USA?

I have no idea

I could understand it if you posted it in a hardcore C&C section, where people are expected to point any the finer details - but in a normal section? Bit ott!

Bob there are people like that all over the place.

He/She was probably looking for a reaction or just jealous.

Re: Can I abdicate from the USA?

In the past I have commented on wonky horizons but only as part of a post that also emphasises what I like or find intriguing about an image.

In fact, if I did not have something positive to say about an image I would not post a reply just pointing out negatives. I think, in every image there is something one can praise and I would rather encourage a person by pointing out the positive points rather than the negatives.

I think the people you have encountered Bob, are just on some sort of ego trip and are best ignored.

Re: Can I abdicate from the USA?

I've calmed down since this happened yesterday. I believe I mentioned when I first joied this forum that I'd run into this kind of problem in other forums. I'm not perfect and neither are my photos. I 'm always open to constructive editing. We learn that way. I'm dropping the issue & thank you all for your continued support.

Re: Can I abdicate from the USA?

Now I feel a tad guilty......... I occasionaly post comments, sometimes in reflection 'may' appear too critical. However, I do TRY to post in a positive spirit and love to see people, and I include myself, improving, technically, aesthetically and artistically.

So, apologies in advance if I come across as a snob - that's not the case; but isn't that the subjective beauty of art (inc photography) - it allows us all to enjoy different things for different reasons..

Now bob, you need to work on your angle of dangle! LOL
