Manipulating images

Hi all,

Recognise a few names on here. I would love to be able to contribute to this site but I am afraid I am most definitely here to learn!! as I can barely take photos let alone anything else!!. I am still trying to work out all the things my camera does (and doesn't do) and as for the video camera...well have used it once!!

Anyway...

Ok here goes, Its my grandpas 99th Birthday this Saturday and I suddenly came up with the idea that I could get him a cake with a photo of the whole family on it......

BUT (isn't there always a but) such a photo does not exist!! There is one of me my mum and dad, and I would have to get a photo from my aunt which had my grandpa and my cousin and his wife and my grandpas great granddaughter, and a seperate on of my aunt and uncle...and 1 of him

So could the photos be "doctored" and the subjects combined into one photo so all the family were in it, or could the photos each be shrunk so that 4 photos made up one photo? I have tried to do this on Word (yes I know very unsophisticated but I have no idea how to use the packages I have - Paint shop pro 8 Animation 3 paintshop starter edition 2 photobase 4.5 and photo impression 5) Ideally if I can't get one of the whole family that has been created with lots of superimposing then 4 seperate ones with a fifth photo overlapping where the 4 others meet and the 5th would be just my grandpa.

Gee hope that makes sense

And if so on either count could or would someone who can help be good enough to pm me and hopefully I can get a great cake, that is assuming I can get in touch with aunt to get the photos.

Thank you

Re: Manipulating images

Yes photos can be edited but for it to look genuine your looking at days worth of work *yikes* and can be b*tch to get right!

However if its going on a cake the details and edit wont have to be as fine. Im prepared to have a go - with no promises
