Are ebay'ers mad?

I was watching a Nikon 70-300 Vr lens on ebay, caught it a few days about at £120 and thought that was a nice price! It was second hand.

Over the days the bids went up and up, and finally it sold for £275.00 plus £7 P+P (£282).

For another £15 they could have bought one brand new with a full two years warranty!!!!!!!!!!!!

These people mad?!

Have you seen photo gear go for silly prices on ebay too?

Re: Are ebay'ers mad?

They can be.

The key with Ebay is set your max and USE THE 'Bid Assistant'

Create a group of items you're interested in, set your maximum bids, and let Bid Assistant bid on your behalf until you win/loose one item.

DONT look it up over and over and get into a bid war......place what you're prepared to pay and walk away.

I often joke with Moobli (Dogsey) about the fact I want the book 'Moobli'. I've been pennies away from winning several times.

Re: Are ebay'ers mad?

ah the thing i do with ebay is wait untill the last 30 secs to put in my maximum bid - not only do you win 90% of the time, but it also helps to stop the price going up!

Re: Are ebay'ers mad?

I recently sold a Sigma lens (only 3 weeks old) on buy it now for £10.00 more than I paid for it, .
They do retail for more, but I had a nose for a bargain when I bought it.

Afterwards I thought I should have bought a few more & sold them on at a small profit
