Okay,

So I had a quick go, obviously as I cut away the background (ear and all) I had to replace it with something, so just downloaded a simple 'landscape' shot off the web, and blurred it to give a good feeling of DoF.

As I have only edited the quite small version of the owl, and not the original, there is only so much detail that can be retained.

Stunning shot, what a lovely owl. We had a wild one near us when we lived in Red Wharf Bay, it used to perch opn the tree opposite us and 'speak' every night.
