Off to the hills tomorrow

I thought with all the great snow about I'd go off to the hills tomorrow with the camera.

I've seen on the news that 3 folk have died in an avalanche on Buachaille Etive Mor (Glen Coe) earlier today.

I'll not be going 'up' any hills as we'll be tight for time but fingers crossed the weather will be fine enough for some pictures.

Re: Off to the hills tomorrow

I guess most folk wouldn't associate Scotland with avalanches but you'd be surprised how many there are. They can happen anywhere dut they tend to be confined to certain places on specific mountains. In winter the mountains are dangerous places and the average death toll is 32 although not all due to avalanches obviously.

The avalanche information service is available on the web these days so people can at least check the 'risk' before deciding where to go.

Anyway - I'm just daytripping with the camera today. Nothing that adventurous.

My battery is fully charged and my white balance is set to 'pish'

Re: Off to the hills tomorrow

Hope you get some nice shots tomorrow Phil. I think it might be quite cloudy at the start of the day and then some sunshine in the afternoon. I use the mountain information service when I go there and find it quite accurate, I know you won't be climbing hills but it will give you an idea of what the weather will be like http://www.mwis.org.uk/mountain/WH.PDF

If my 5dMKII had arrived I might have joined you there to test it out

Re: Off to the hills tomorrow

Had a nice day in the end. The snow was a good foot deep over the hill road to Loch Tay but the ploughs had been through which was fine.

Not much good for photography though I'm afraid LOL

A bit of Hillside

A bit of Mountain

A bit of sunshine !
