Re: Some pics of my GSD

The first two look more like snapshots - Tecnically they are fine but the composition can be improved alot Appriciating they seem like opportunist shots, ill continue to give a critique that you asked for.

#1:
  • Despite being out of focus, the guy handling your dog is competing for attention
  • Barney has a missing ear - if you want a portraiture feel, try to get it in
  • The halti does nothing for your shot - get rid
  • You have a bench coming out of Barney's chest
  • The focus seems to be on Barneys muzzle rather than his eye
  • Try to get him to look slightly more at the camera or change your angle to get in a full and partcial eye
#2
  • Needs a tighter crop - Barney is in a lovley pose but is lost in the surroundings
  • Again the halti - Not helping
  • Try not to stand right infront of him for your captures, get in at more of an agle and get down to his "sitting" height
#3
  • Best if the bunch but again the halti!!
  • Slobberon his nose - not attractive LOL
  • Watch for your backgrounds - the bars are distracting
Overall not a bad effort - you just need to remember your working in a 3D enviromnet and your subject needs to be the star of the show

HTH
KK (ps i hate giving CCs!)

Re: Some pics of my GSD

Definitely the third one is the best..ground level is usually good for animals and the colour is much better in the third one.

Composition is so important ..and something that will become more instinctive the more you shoot

Re: Some pics of my GSD

Great looking dog tjhoe68! Now.. down to business:

#1
I actually really like this shot, but as KK mentioned the setting could have been better (ie the fence) and the Halti needs to go. It's also a tad over-exposed.

I do however like the rest of the shot - the look of the dog and the handler blurred out in the back, I dunno, it just works for me so I guess it depends on what you want the shot to portray.

#2
Agree with KK again, crop could be tighter to remove the trees at the back, and perhaps get a more interesting angle.

#3
Great shot! Again agree with KK, the Halti needs to go :ll:

Re: Some pics of my GSD

Thankyou I agree, the halti does look bad doesn't it And you're so right, I get so intent on getting a good pic of Barney and I do forget about the background. I will defo try to be more aware in future

Azz, Im hopeless at editing, so that's something else I need to work on. I have to badger my OH to do any editing for me and he doesn't always have time
