I got really frustrated dealing with the folks who handled my original D800 pre-order. I've had my order waiting since Feb 17, 2012. There's never any information on shipments or expectations on when my camera will arrive. I also get tired of a customer service representative from India on the phone. My original intention was to support my local Camera World in Portland, OR. To my dismay I discovered the Camera World.com site is not affiliated with my local store but is an entirely different company based in California. I just cancelled my original order after talking with my local store. They've been getting D800 bodies on a regular basis and have almost filled all pre-orders. It may take 2-3 more weeks to get my camera but at least I'm now helping a local American mom/pop company.

Don't blame you Bob - hope you get it soon, can't wait to see the photos

I'm sure the very first photo I will take will be one of the D800 camera using my trusty D7000.

I just just got word today that my camera is on its way. My credit card company balked at the sudden $2999.99 charge, leaving me $.01 available I cleared it with the card company's security office and I should physically get my camera next weekend.

I received a phone call & email yesterday from my credit card company. They were checking on a pending purchase for $2999.99 at Ritz Camera. I was so thrilled because that meant my camera was on its way. I called the credit card folks to ok the purchase and then the camera shop to check on the transaction. They claimed 10 D800s were on their way to the store and one of them had my name all over it. That was great news. I may have my new camera as soon at this coming weekend.
