A question about printing up.

This is probably a daft question but humour me please.

I don't have a printer and use Boots who generally do a decent quality job. However some of my shots ( particularly mono's) come out much darker than they appear on screen.

Now I am aware that the screen illuminates the shot ..so do I have to adjust the lighting up before sending them to print and if so, by how much? Is there a ratio?

Obviously if this is the case the screen view would be no help to me in judging things.

Re: A question about printing up.

Ask Boots if they auto fix the photo.

My Boots do and they can turn it off if you ask them.

Re: A question about printing up.

Probably monitor calibration would help. It's primarily for accurate colour rendition, but I think it would help with brightness too.

You could so with al;tering exposure on a sample and ask them to print that, but i also think it would be hit and miss. I'm not aware of any formulae that would do the job/ Sorry hun

Re: A question about printing up.

Might be a good idea, even if only for proofing
