going through customs ?

If your going abroad and taking your camera/lenses etc, what proof do you provide to show all duties have been paid, ie VAT-import duties and the like.

I have just dug out all relevant receipts and made copies to keep in my camera bag.

Re: going through customs ?

I didn't think you needed proof if you didn't have packaging etc?

Re: going through customs ?

I have been reading about foreign customs officials removing and keeping camera gear when no proof of purchase was presented, which is why I asked the question. When you take a camera -camcorder- couple of lenses or more plus ancillary bits and pieces like spare batteries- flashgun -tripod- battery chargers- it amounts to several thousands of pounds worth of gear.

Re: going through customs ?

It was mention by members on another photographic site, but I feel it wouldn't be right to mention it on here. Bazza
