Just received a genuine Panasonic battery ordered from a company in Hong Kong cost under £26 inc p/p. Same battery from Jessops £105.

Re: Buying from Hong Kong

I experienced the very same thing on a new battery for my Fuji FinePix, point and shoot. Speed of delivery was excellent as well.

Re: Buying from Hong Kong

I just bought a battery from Hong Kong for my Sony A200...under a tenner, free shipping.

It arrived on the day my Sony A200 died. Sadly the A57 I got to replace it doesn't take the same batteries...

Re: Buying from Hong Kong

I purchased my 17-40L from a HK retailer, yes I saved money but there are no G'tee papers in the box

So not sure I would do so again, depends on the saving I guess.

Re: Buying from Hong Kong

For stuff that's little and cheap, like batteries, probably no problem. Wouldn't buy lenses or bodies though.

Re: Buying from Hong Kong

Hi

I have purchased from Hong Kong ( Digital Rev ) excellent service , delivery information was covered better than any I have received by courier here .

As Ken says it depends on the saving , and also if you can cover any fix required to the product because while I was at Canon Professional Services recently I over heard a cps representative saying that any canon product purchased outside of the UK would not be covered under the normal international warranty .

Annoying , as I was very tempted to make a major purchase through the site to get a major saving .

Re: Buying from Hong Kong

I've ordered a Yong Nuo YN 560 II flasb gun from HK. The tracking number shows it left the province on Sunday. We'll see how long it takes to get here, and how easy it is to pay the duty on it once it arrives.

Re: Buying from Hong Kong

It arrived yesterday. I was out, so picked it up this morning...
It is supposed to have (if I did my sums right) about 10 quid duty to pay, but UK Customs have ticked the *gift* box, so I paid nothing.

I'm morally outraged. And financially happy
