Re: Fujifilm Finepix S5700 - thoughts?

Taken the liberty of copying your boy and barge and lifted it a bit, taken no trouble over it and will remove it from my files the moment you ask if you wish.

It is inevitable with this amount of adjustment the shot is now a bit noisy.

Please don't think me being rude but in your profile you say your father teaches photography. Apart from asking advice on here which members are always willing to help, I would have thought that just maybe your father could give you a more pratical lesson on your camera, unless he lives too far away that is. Far far better to be shown than talking thru a problem on a forum.

Apart from that you also have to take into account the limitations of a lower priced end of the camera market , this could include one of your problems in the last photo -shutter speed.
A great mistake is often made when viewing pictures is to expect the same results as a high end priced camera. Generally they are great for portraits-landscapes- buildings and the like, but trying to get that little bit more is beyond the cameras capabilities, as in telephoto and already mentioned fast action shots

This is where the DSLR scores over a P/S camera

Thank you, yes, I'm learning quickly not to expect slr quality from my camera, but until I can afford one I have to get by.
My Dad lives on the boat you can see in the picture, and I don't get to see him often enough to get help, luckily for me everyone on here is very friendly and helpful

Cheers for your help

Thanks Snapper - course I don't mind, looks much better than the original, whats 'lifting'??

Thanks everyone for your comments on this camera, nice to know it's a great backup camera, when I can afford an slr, then I'll definitely keep it on the bench ready

When I said lifted I meant lightened the shadows - Elements has a handy one click does it although it would be possible to do it with more finesse.
