Re: lenses from ebay hong kong ?

I wouldn't buy anything from over-sea's on fleabay unless it was something of relatively low value and didn't mind to much of a copy turned up. I've dealt with far too much fleabay stuff at work and would never buy anything over £100 on there even from this country. Pay-pal isn't the saviour that it portrays itself as, buyer beware is definitely the key on fleabay.

Re: lenses from ebay hong kong ?

Do you reckon my 55-200 could be a copy? I would have thought it quite hard to manufacuture a decent lens/copy tho :-/

I too wouldn't buy from abroad as it's not worth the risk - although I ordered from amazon.co.uk and I'm quite sure my lens is an import as it didn't have the 2 yr warranty card : -/ Just hope it's not a copy!

Re: lenses from ebay hong kong ?

We have bought from Hong Kong via Ebay ..but make sure you ALWAYS check out the sellers stats...that they sell regularly and they have good feedback

Also remember that you will probably be liable to UK tax on purchases

Re: lenses from ebay hong kong ?

I bought a 2GB Sandisk SD memory card a week or so ago of Ebay for a quid from a Honk Kong seller.

Ended up sticking into a digital photoframe which we'd bought somebody as a present so I've just ordered another from the same place.

Costs £4 postage but still good for a fiver.

Never bought an expensive item though. Just be sure to check everything is compatible and that the seller is reputable.

Re: lenses from ebay hong kong ?

Yes I have had some good deals from HONG KONG but I only buy from shops and don't go into a bidding war . I wouldn't even consider buying a lens in the UK, over here its a rip off.

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/UR-Galaxy-L...to-Electronics

http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Hong-Kong-Supplies

2 of the shops I have dealt with and had great service, the added bonus is that the lenses are 2/3rds the price against UK shops but you do need to compare first.

Some HK shops will offer to post as a gift to lessen duty costs on import
Definately have a look at the prices at HK shops, the service is far better than over here, the only drawback is you can't inspect the goods before you get them.

Cameras definately do not buy from Hong Kong as the spec is different for the Far eastern market in the programming setup than the UK version.

For example I tried to buy a particular Sigma lens in the UK, even contacted Sigma UK the main importers, absolutely useless couldn't even tell me when the next shipment was due.

Went to one of the above Hong Kong suppliers, got the lens in 4 working days and at 2/3rds the UK price.

Bazza
