Do you use 'extract' to remove the image from the background and if so what was the original background as it needs to be pretty bright / dark to remove easily doesn't it ??

Hey Phil, there are a few ways of doing it.
I shoot with a white canvas backdrop and hopefully if theres enough contrast between foreground and background (90% of the time there is) ill use the magic wand tool to extract. However before i delete, i tidy the edges by expanding by 1 pixel and then feathering by another 1 or 2. If the edges need tidying or recovering i mke sure i have anothe layer of the image and delete sme of the new background to expose this, using layer masks.
Many people use green, or blue (chromakey) backgrounds, so then you can use the colour range selection
