Re: Octoberfest

I thought it was pretty obvious... but I thought that this:

Seems strange thing for the USA to do is to celebrate a German festival given the past history between the two countries.
was a bit narrow minded to say the least!

Re: Octoberfest

It's what I love most about the US, it's a huge melting pot, of different cultures and traditions

In North Carolina, they even have Highland Games in the mountains, as a lot of Scots emigrated to there, it was slightly surreal, as I've been to the real deal too, but it was good fun.

I love that people keep their traditions and bring them with them, I am half Welsh, and then the rest is English and Irish, so I celebrate St David's day, St George's , and St Patrick's plus , I celebrated 4th of JulyMardi Gras and Cinco de Mayo with friends. I think there is Oktoberfest in most, if not all states, as a lot of Europeans brought there culture and traditions with them, and also built buildings that reminded them of home too.

I'd also like to point out that a whole bunch of Americans love to drink so Octoberfest, St Patrick's Day & the 4th of July are taken seriously.
