Surprising Wilbur

At a luncheon today I decided to carry along my D90 outfitted with a low light 1.8 35mm Nikkor. I set my ISO to 1000 knowing I'd need a little more latitude. I wound up shooting at 1/60 at 1.8-2.2 all day. It's difficult to get a thoroughly sharp candid photo under such circumstances but the expression on this shot is worth it.

Wilbur Surprised!

Re: Surprising Wilbur

Great capture Bob, as you say the low light does create some difficulties with type of shot as can be seen in the mouth area. However it is still a good picture and an amusing expression. I really enjoy taking people pictures.

Re: Surprising Wilbur

Great portrait - you get a real sense of character. I think you did really well considering you were at 1/60 - my hands are way too wobbly to shoot that slow.

Try shooting in continuous mode. The more frames are fired off the greater the odds one will be sharper than the rest.
