The British are coming!!!

I had a great afternoon yesterday, exploring part of a battleground from the American Revolution. These are restored Canons that now sit in places where they originally would of sat at key points over the battle ground.

Re: The British are coming!!!

They look so inadequate as instruments of war don't they and it is amazing that such things become almost objects of art once their original use has past.

Well shot (taken) love the design the shadows make, will we now have cannon instead of benches?

Re: The British are coming!!!

They are above the battlefield , so I don't think I would of wanted a canonball dropping on my head

It is a strange thing, that some of the American soldiers would of actually have been British or of British descent. It must have been very confusing fighting in the woods, there are lots of markers in the woods, such a peaceful place now.

Snaps you would love it, there is a beautiful peace garden in the centre dedicated to all soldiers, and all wars, it really is touching, the pathways are made up of bricks with the names of fallen soldiers. I only explored part of the battleground will go back soon and take more shots.
They have mock battles every so often, so promised the kids we will go and watch one.

I have actually taken some pics of benches, I just thought everybody would be getting sick of them by now

Re: The British are coming!!!

I really like these, they show so much history, so much sadness and loss, and so much power really. Canons really interest me but I know very little about them.

I do like the pattern of the shadows, especially in No. 3.
