I re edited the Jan shot
More accurately I edited another shot to try and improve the first.
The general concensus was you wanted to see more detail in the weight on the right hand third.

I still like this Dave, I can't remember the exact frame of the original, but for me it was about the light and the contrasting colours of the boat that stand out and I guess the way the line takes your eye into the boat.

If I remember rightly someone had said don't crop so close to the weights.

Think it was me... and tbh I think this ticks many boxes, with some nice colours and all the composition now on the thirds. the weight before was right at the bottom edge of the frame, which suggests you composed it nicely in camera but cropped it a little awkwardly. Looks a lot better. It's not a competition winner, but it's a nice, competent shot and quite honestly i can imagine being a postcard shot of wherever it is, maybe with a slightly stronger colour like postcards tend to have.

I looked at this again on my bigger calibrated monitor and I reckon you could get more out of this with some pp work. Bits of it look a little hazy/murky... I am sure you could improve the whole thing to some nice crisp tones in the sand and the sky.

Above was my comment on your original post
I think by giving the mooring weights more room it tends to act better as a lead in line to the main subject.
This version, to my mind, is an improvement and I like it. You were starting off from a very good image anyway but I think this just puts the finishing touch to it
