Zoo trip

This trip I decided to take my zoom lens and concentrate on close ups and eyes. I have more, but as this is my first post with photos, I thought, I'd limit to just a few

Re: Zoo trip

Thankyou

I am an illustrator and graphic designer, so I guess I have an artistic mind, which seems to be some of the battle won and I have used photoshop for years to alter other peoples photographs (though these are all unaltered), but until now I have never had a camera good enough to take pictures as good as the ones that people sent to me to be enhanced! It was so frustrating...

I got this camera (a Sony alpha) for Christmas and bought the zoom lens for my birthday in March... Have to say until this zoo trip this weekend I have had nothing I have been proud of.. But finally it's all starting to click into place... So.. I finally have pictures I am proud enough of to post on the photography site... rather than just sneak about in the sidelines envying other people's pics ....

I still need to work on consistency (I get about 1 good shot every 50) and actually knowing what I am doing rather than lucking in to these shots but twiddling things and pushing buttons!

Your background in art shows - and really that's all you need, all the technical stuff will come in time.

I look forward to seeing more of your stuff!

Re: Zoo trip

Some lovely shots there, I especially like the vulture! I think perhaps an even tighter crop on most of them would work well too!

Great start in photography! I can't wait to see more of your stuff.

Re: Zoo trip

I am new to photography I promise! Not to design, but this is my first 'posh' camera

If you could see some of the shots I discarded you'd believe me I know what I want and I just keep shooting till I get it... I must have taken over 50 shots to get these few that I liked... Do you want me to put up some of the failed ones?

Re: Zoo trip

I have taken a couple of shots that I took at the zoo and had a bit of a play with them in photoshop.

Let me know what you think... The first one, you can see the original above...
